Bookkeeping and Administrative Assistant (Part-Time) 

The Essex County Museum & Historical Society (ECMHS) is looking for a part time Bookkeeping and Administrative Assistant. This hourly position works two days a week at the Museum in Tappahannock for an average of 10 hours/week and reports to the Executive Director.

Bookkeeping responsibilities include accounting reconciliation (receivable/payable), donation management and reporting, budget preparation and tracking, end of period accruals and reporting, employee related tax preparation and payroll for a limited number of staff positions and non-profit tax filing.

Administrative-related responsibilities include maintaining donor data base and membership information, managing annual compliance processes, purchasing supplies; and overseeing facilities, and constituent communication.

Required experience: Expertise in QuickBooks a must as this platform is used to manage the books and the donor data base, a minimum 3 years of accounting experience and excellent Microsoft office Skills.

Desired experience: Business /accounting degree; non-profit experience; office management background.
