After serving as the Curator for the Essex County Museum for more than twenty years, David Jett has officially retired! David’s knowledge of local history and his remarkable attention to detail has helped shape the Museum over the years and made it a truly special place to visit. Attendees to the Museum’s Annual Meeting on May 4th were treated to a wonderful presentation by David that featured some of the Museum’s past exhibits, as well as some of the more interesting and unusual artifacts that have passed through during his tenure. Museum President Zorine Shirley and Executive Director Tim Manley both thanked David for his invaluable contributions to the Museum and to preserving the history of Essex County. Also on hand for the event was the Museum’s new Curator, Jaime Fawcett, a museum professional with over twenty years of experience. She and her family have settled in a historic Tidewater home. Jaime is excited to learn more about Essex County and put her experience to good use. As for David, he will be staying on as a Museum Docent, so he’ll still be on hand once a month to share his expertise with our visitors!
