Annual Fund
The Annual Fund supports our efforts to collect, preserve, present and promote the significant and diverse history of Essex County for all of our citizens and our visitors. Your gift is tax deductible and may be designated in honor or memory of someone special. A donation to the Annual Fund is a great way to say thank you, remember a loved one, or commemorate a special occasion.
Endowment & Legacy
A gift to the Endowment Fund or a Legacy gift made through your will or trust can be one of the most significant ways you can support efforts to preserve the rich heritage and history of Essex County and inspire others to appreciate the unique traditions that are a part of Essex County.
Max Silver Memorial Courtyard
The Max Silver Memorial Courtyard, on Prince Street next to the museum will be a place where patrons, visitors and the community can enjoy green space in the heart of town and will include historical markers, educational kiosks, an event gazebo, open space for gatherings and small intimate pavilions.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are Needed!
The Essex County Museum and Historical Society could not function without our dedicated volunteers. They form the backbone of nearly every aspect of our operations and contribute greatly to our success. We are grateful to our wonderful volunteers who ensure we can fulfill our mission and provide impact to our community!
Become A Docent!
This is perhaps our most important need. Our volunteer docents serve by assisting visitors touring the museum and providing information on our facilities and exhibits. Duties include guiding guests through our galleries and serving in our Gift Shop. Special expertise is not a prerequisite; information is readily available and updated through periodic training sessions. Docents normally are scheduled for periods of no more than three hours per month. Our docents are the face of the museum to the public and are an integral part of the museum’s continuing success.
